Less Homelessness. More Jobs. Better Parks.

Vote Joshua Johnson to the Redding City Council on November 5, 2024!

  • Reduce Homelessness

A majority of our Police calls for service and crime is related to the homeless population living on our streets.

We need a City Council that continues to support RPD’s efforts to enforce our laws and encourages collaboration with nonprofits and agencies to see long-lasting change. Joshua has sat on bords of organizations providing these sevices, worked on sober living housing projects, and will bring these deeper connections to the table that make adifference.

  • Increase Jobs & Opportunity

The strength of our economy is directly tied to jobs and opportunity. Joshua wants Redding to be known as “business-friendly” and a place where local companies can grow.

Government can provide quality infrastructure, smart incentives, utilities, and parks that make it possible to grow. Joshua will use his 17 years experience owning a business when looking for these opportunities for our community.

  • Improve our Parks

Whether it’s the Big League Dreams, South City Park, or the Civic-Rodeo Grounds, these parks can be the jewels of our community.

Joshua is a user of the local sand volleyball courts, Little League baseball fields, pickleball courts, and river access. He believes these spaces are a priority to voters and must be stewarded properly. Quality parks and local events play and significant role in attracting and retaining a local workforce—not to mention making Reddng a place we’re proud to call home.

Public Safety

I will prioritize efforts to lower our crime rates and seeing less people living on our streets.

We are blessed to have a proactive police department, and given the challenges of having limited county jail space, they are working closely with local nonprofits and agencies to offer a more robust enforcement effort. The “carrot and stick” analogy applies, social services can provide the heart, but ultimately the community expects enforcement of local laws. Joshua understands the importance of public safety and has gained experience working with addiction recovery, housing, and social service agencies. Joshua will work diligently with RPD and local services to adequately to reduce homeless encampments, untreated mental health, and open-air drug scenes.

Small Business Growth

We want to be a city where our local businesses can grow here at home.

I plan to bring 17 years of business experience to City Council to make our city more business-friendly and a place that makes it easier to grow locally. I will work closely with our Economic Development partners, the Redding Airport Manager, and our Development Services Director to actively look for ways to make Redding the best place to take risk and grow a business. As your councilmember, I will seek to send a loud message that Redding wants your business to thrive here.

Quality of Life

Our Parks and Local Events are the bedrock of our community culture.

As an avid athlete and sports fan, I know the value of great parks for families. As your councilmember I will fight for these amenities and events that make Redding great. I will advocate for parks, the revitalization and long-term success of Big League Dreams, the Redding Rodeo grounds, the Civic Auditorium, South City Park, and many more of our best community assets.
